Polymyositis and Dermatomyositis
Asparaginyl-tRNA Synthetase (KS) is a member of the aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family, key enzymes of protein biosynthesis which charge tRNA molecules with the respective amino acids. This 64 kDa protein is an autoantigen recognized by KS antibodies which occur in a subset of patients with polymyositis and dermatomyositis. KS antibodies indicate an increased risk for lung involvement.
Asparaginyl-tRNA Synthetase (KS) from DIARECT is produced in the baculovirus / insect cell expression system.
Additional antigenic targets of antibodies from the so-called anti-synthetase complex (PM/DM with autoantibodies against only a single aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase) are histidyl-tRNA synthetase (Jo-1), threonyl-tRNA synthetase (PL-7), alanyl-tRNA synthetase (PL-12) and glycyl-tRNA synthetase (EJ), respectively.
